Michael Conlan savoured his RTÉ Sport Person of the Year award as he capped off a memorable year in style.
The Belfast man took bantamweight gold in Doha, Qatar in October - the first ever Irishman to become the World Championship boxing champion.
The 24-year-old, who is also a European and Commonwealth champion, is hungry to keep his momentum going as he gears up for a crack at Olympic gold in Rio in 2016.
“If I hadn’t won this I would have been a bit disappointed!" Conlan joked after picking up his award on Saturday night.
"It means the world to me. Coming down here I had a bit of doubt in my head but I had to put that to the back of my mind and think I was going to win it. I was driving 200 miles an hour down here – I needed to win it!
“Paddy Barnes is a great team-mate of mine and a great friend of mine and I think he wanted me to win this more than I wanted to win it so it’s fantastic for both of us.”
