Carl Frampton will make the first defence of his IBF super bantamweight world title early in 2015 when he takes on Chris Avalos in Belfast.
The Tiger’s Bay boxer secured the belt in September, beating Kiko Martinez at Belfast’s Titanic Quarter, and will now face the mandatory challenger Avalos.
The fight will again take place in Frampton’s home town of Belfast in February or March of next year as The Jackal looks to extend his unbeaten record to 20-0.
Mexican American boxer Avalos, who is also rated at featherweight, has been beaten twice in his 26-fight career and defeated Japan’s Yasutaka Ishimoto in the IBF super bantamweight title eliminator.
We are pleased to announce @RealCFrampton will defend his World title against mandatory challenger @HitmanAvalos in Belfast in Feb/Mar 2015.
