Andy Lee is a fighter on a mission as he prepares to challenge unbeaten middleweight contender Matt Korobov for the vacant WBO world middleweight title on Saturday in Las Vegas.
The Limerick boxer is in the final stages of preparations for his world title bid.
Lee says he is in the best shape of his life and he has only two things on his mind going into this fight; winning and doing so impressively.
He firmly believes he has the boxing skills and power to overcome Korobov and remains focused on the job at hand.
Lee is no stranger to fighting in America, having fought there 21 times including three bouts in Las Vegas.
"I’ve fought a lot of different guys with different styles, been in different situations, faced adversity, and I fought my way through. This is my time and my date with destiny" - Andy Lee
His last fight was at Madison Square Garden in June when he knocked out world title contender John Jackson with a right hook in the fifth following four bruising rounds where Lee was second best for the most part.
He will be looking to repeat that knockout performance come Saturday night.
A relaxed and confident Lee said: "I relish this opportunity to fight for the WBO middleweight title; I have never been more ready to win the title. I am totally focussed on the fight and I’m ready to take care of business on Saturday night.
"I have learnt a lot over the years, I’ve been in different fights and training camps and I’ve picked up a lot of experience along the way.
"I’ve fought a lot of different guys with different styles, been in different situations, faced adversity, and I fought my way through. This is my time and my date with destiny."
Lee’s manager and trainer Adam Booth said: "Preparations for the fight could not have been any better; Andy is a very disciplined and determined fighter and he is physically and mentally prepared for this fight.
"We have prepared for the best of Matt Korobov, he had a world-class amateur career and is undefeated as a pro. However, Andy is a big middleweight and he has vast experience as an amateur and professional. He can box on the outside, fight at close quarters and has the power to take a fighter out with either hand."
