Glen Holmes and Chris Blaney will compete in Sunday's Brandenburg Cup finals in Frankfurt/Oder at bantamweight and welterweight following semi-final victories on Saturday.

However, world junior champion Joe Ward bowed out of the 18-nation tournament after being edged out 3-2 by home favourite Islam Sulimanov of Germany in the middleweight semi-final.

Ryston flyweight Stephen Tracey is also out after being eliminated on a count-back to Nikolai Chaskin of Estonia.

Holmes booked his ticket into the bantamweight final with a 7-4 win over Gokan Gural of Turkey and Blaney advanced after Zhan Alimkhaunty of Kazakhstan was disqualified for low blows.

Blaney, who was 6-0 down at one stage, had pulled back to within two points (6-8) when Alimkhanuly received boxing's equivalent of a red card.

Holmes will face Rusian Madiyev of Kazakhstan in tomorrow's bantamweight final, while Blaney meets Denis Radovan of Germany.
