The IABA will run an Open Youth Competition over the next three weekend's to help with their selection process for the 2010 AIBA World Youth Championships in Azerbaijan, with the action getting underway this Saturday at the National Stadium.
The tournament, which will see athletes box over three, three minutes rounds, will act as the only qualifier for the 2010 Youth Olympics Games in Singapore next August.
Ireland enjoyed tremendous success at the 2008 AIBA World Youth Championship in Mexico.
Ray Moylette (gold), Jamie Kavanagh (silver), Thomas McCarthy (bronze) and David Joe Joyce (bronze) all finished in podium positions in Guadalajara.
The weigh-in for the weekend's preliminary round bouts will be held between 8.30am and 10am and 12 noon and 1pm on Friday followed by the draw. Boxing will begin at 7pm.
