Jason Quigley claimed at least a bronze medal at the European Youth Championships following a narrow but well-deserved quarter-final win in Szczecin, Poland on Wednesday evening.
The Donegal teenager, Ireland's only boxer left in the tournament, beat Turkish welterweight Muratcan Bugra Oner 4-3.
The Finn Valley club-man will now meet Dgaba Hospitashil of Georgia in Thursday's 69Kg semi final.
The victory maintains the IABA's sequence of having won medals at every international tournament, including the Olympics Games, since the AIBA World Senior Championships in Chicago in November 2007.
