Irish success in the Lithuanian ring

Charlie Haggerty, Jason Quigley and Bernard Roe chalked up their second hat-trick of wins for Ireland in 24 hours in Lithuania tonight to march into the Danas Pozniakas Olympic Youth semi-finals in Vilnius.

Quigley, who is having a fine tournament so far, impressed in his win over Czech Republic welterweight Vit Kral and Roe always looked comfortable versus Poland's Roger Hryniuk.

The trio join Gary Molloy in tomorrow’s semi-finals after the Moate flyweight received a bye into the last four.

Molloy and Roe will meet English opponents in Saturday’s last four deciders in the shape of James Dickens and Ryan Aston.

All four Irish boxers are now guaranteed at least bronze medals, Ireland's first international medal haul of the 2009 season.
