Bernard Dunne moved a step closer towards a World Super-Bantamweight title fight following victory over Uruguayan Cristian Faccio in Castlebar on Saturday night.
However, the win did not come in the most satisfactory of circumstances for the Dubliner as the fight was stopped following an accidental clash of heads in the eighth round.
Both boxers suffered head injuries, Dunne in particular received a huge gash to his forehead, and the referee stopped the contest in the ninth round with Dunne declared the winner as he led by 70 points to 65 on the judges' scorecard.
Meanwhile, Irish Light Middleweight Henry Coyle went the distance before receiving the referee's decision in overcoming his Russian opponent. It was a tenth professional win for Coyle, while Welterweight Stephen Haughian defeated Italian Giammario Grassellini.
