Reigning Irish, World and three times European lightweight (60kg) champion Katie Taylor claimed yet another victory after stopping Canadian Katie Dunn at the University of Illinois in Chicago on Saturday evening.
Taylor, of the St Fergal's club in Bray, outclassed the three times Pan American Games champion on the 15 point rule (15-0) in round one.
It was another remarkable victory for Taylor who was boxing Dunn at light welterweight (63Kg).
The bout, which took place before the Men's World Championships finals, was being used to help promote women's boxing as a future Olympic sport.
Women's boxing has been ruled out for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. However, the female version of the noble art is being strongly tipped to make its debut at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The men's World Championships concluded last night in Chicago.
China's Shiming Zou, who beat Ireland's Paddy Barnes in the 48kg quarter-final on Friday, retained his world light flyweight title following a convincing 17-3 win over Harry Tanamor of the Philippines.
Barnes, from the Holy Family club in Belfast, was the only Irish boxer to qualify for next year's Olympics from the World Championships.
