Ireland are guaranteed at least one bronze medal from the European Union Junior Boxing Championships after Ulster bantamweight Mark McCullough advanced to the semi-finals in Poland this morning.
McCullough, from the Cairn Lodge club in Antrim, edged out Turk Halil Halibrahtin 23-22 and is now just two bouts from gold in Warsaw.
Lightweight Anthony Cacace progressed to the last eight at the championships following yesterday's 25-20 win over Roman Jacob from France.
Cacace, from the Oliver Plunketts club in Belfast, meets Poland's Dartosz Grolewski in the quarter-finals today with a bronze medal up for grabs.
Welterweight Alfredo Meli (Immaculata), and middleweight Donal Ward (Loughglynn), will also be in action today.
Meli meets Bulgarian Manev Malden and Ward meets Estonian Igor Gulta.
Cavan flyweight John Joe Nevin and Mayo featherweight Ray Moylett bowed out of the tournament following preliminary round bout reversals yesterday.
