Five Irish boxers will be targeting gold in Sunday's Gee-Bee Senior Multi-Nations finals following impressive semi-final victories over world class opposition in Helsinki.
Conor Ahern, Ryan Lindberg, Darren Sutherland, John Sweeney and Cathal McMonagle are all within four rounds of finishing on top of the podium.
Flyweight Ahern, from the Baldoyle club in Dublin, stopped Finnish puncher Toni Hamalaine on the 20 point rule in round three (25-5) and will now meet either Marcel Schneider (Germany) or Vincenzo Picardi (Italy) in Sunday's 51Kg decider.
St Saviour's OBA middleweight Darren Sutherland stopped Polish puncher Robert Talarek on the 20 point rule also on a 25-5 scoreline.
Meantime, John Sweeney, from the Dungloe club in Donegal, recorded a 20-4 win over Latvia's Raitis Atvars and will face either Clemente Russo (Italy) or Jarno Rosberg (Finland) in the heavyweight decider.
Ryan Lindberg of Immaculatta Belfast progressed to the bantamweight decider where he will meet Bulgarian Detelin Dalaklieu, who beat David Oliver Joyce in last year's final.
Donegal born super heavyweight Cathal McMonagle, who boxes out of the Holy Trinity club in Belfast, is also just eight minutes from gold following an 18-15 last four win over Bulgarian Olympian and European bronze medallist Kubrat Pulev.
