TJ Doheny marched into the semi-finals of the National Senior Championships following a hard fought victory over Michael Myres at the National Stadium in Dublin.
The pair were fairly even in a very close encounter at the South Circular Road venue but Doheny edged the contest by two points to book his ticket into next Friday's semi-final.
Arklow lightweight Fergal Lawlor will meet defending champ Roy Sheahan in next weekend's semi-final following a convincing victory over Cork's Patrick Walsh.
Glasnevin's Ciaran Bates advanced from his all Dublin meeting with Arron Sadlier, and bantamweight Ryan Lindberg made sure his name is in the hat after an impressive win over Sean Kilroy.
St Michael's Athy welterweight David Joyce progressed following a win over Fergus Turner, but there was disappointment for Intermediate champion Shane Hickey who lost out to Ciaran Bates.
The National Senior Championships will resume next weekend with semi-finals on Friday and Saturday night.
Light heavyweight champion, Ken Egan who is targeting his seventh title in a row could be in the ring next weekend while defending middleweight champion Darren Sutherland may also see final four action.
