The eagerly awaited 2007 National Senior Championships get underway at the National Stadium in Dublin tonight with twelve quarter-final bouts.
Some top class contests are in store this evening not least of which is the lightweight showdown between Ciaran Bates from St Mary's, and National Intermediate champ Shane Hickey of the Brian Dillon's club in Cork.
Aaron Sadlier, who reached the semi-final last year, is also in action this evening against Glasnevin's Karl Crawley.
All-Saints ace Thomas Hamill is facing a tough encounter against St Matthews' Luke Keeler, while the other welterweight last eight clash sees Fergus Turner go head to head with David Joyce.
The 2007 National Intermediate Championships will resume next Friday and Saturday evening (26 and 27 January) with semi-finals. The Championships conclude on 2 February.
