Irish boxer Katie Taylor is just one fight away from at least a bronze medal after another resounding victory at the Women's World Championships in India today.

Taylor, from the St Fergal's club in Bray, Co Wicklow, marched into the last eight after stopping Finland's Eva Walstrom, who is ranked fifth in the world, on the 15-point rule (19-4) in round two of their lightweight contest in New Delhi.

Today's win arrives just 24 hours after she stopped American national champion Caroline Barry on the 15-point rule (16-1) in round one of their preliminary bout.

Taylor, who won her second European title on the trot in September, and who is ranked at number one in the world, will now meet a Romanian opponent in the quarter finals on Tuesday.

Peter Taylor, an ex-Irish champion at light heavyweight, is in his daughter's corner in India.
