Irish boxing star Katie Taylor cruised into the last 16 of the women's world championships after stopping American national champion Caroline Barry on the 15 point rule in round one of her preliminary bout in India on Saturday.
Twenty-year-old Taylor, from the St Fergal's club in Bray, will now meet Finnish puncher Eva Walstrom, who is ranked at number five in the world, in the last 16 in New Delhi on Sunday evening.
Back-to-back European lightweight champion Taylor, ranked at number one in the world, has beaten Walstrom three times already in her career.
And according to her dad and coach Peter, she is in a confident mood ahead of tomorrow's showdown in the Indian capitol.
He said, 'We're very pleased with the win and her performance against the America. She is boxing very well and we are now looking forward to Sunday's contest'.
The Fourth Women's World Championships will conclude on 24 November in New Delhi.
