Joe Calzaghe has set himself a target of two more years to confirm his status as the finest fighter of his generation.

Calzaghe insists he will quit his sport at the age of 36 - having convinced all his remaining critics of his right to superstardom.

The 34-year-old Welshman returns to the ring on Saturday when he puts his WBO and IBF super-middleweight titles on the line against Sakio Bika.

Calzaghe said: ‘I want to fight until I cannot fight any more but it is a rare breed of fighter who actually gets out on top.

‘I think that is a realistic goal for me. I would like to fight another four or five fights but not beyond the age of 36.

‘I fight now because I am the best and I enjoy being champion. If I am not the best any more then maybe I will not want to fight.’
