Ireland's rising star Bernard Dunne will fight England's Esham Pickering for the European super-bantamweight title at the Point Depot, Dublin on 11 November.

Michael Hunter, who defeated Pickering last October, has vacated the belt in order to pursue world title glory following three successful defences.

Dunne's manager Brian Peters predicts that Pickering, 30, will offer 'the acid test' for the 26-year-old Dubliner, who is unbeaten in 21 fights and has been attracting sell-out crowds in his hometown.

Peters said: 'Bernard has done all that has been asked of him and now he faces Esham in what is his moment of truth.

'It's a great fight for both guys and in effect it is a world title eliminator because the winner will most likely go on to fight for a world title.

'It's a big night for Bernard because he will be bidding to become the first Dubliner to win a European title and fighting at the Point he is following in the footsteps of Wayne McCullough, Steve Collins, Lennox Lewis and "Prince" Naseem Hamed.'
