Johny Duddy is set to face Yory Boy Campas in New York

Unbeaten Irish middleweight John Duddy could meet former world champion Yory Boy Campas in New York this autumn.

Duddy's promoter Eddie McLoughlin said yesterday that the clash is being lined up for the Theatre Club at Madison Square Gardens on 29 September.

The fight will be promoted by Duddy's Irish Ropes Gym in New York in association with Robert Duran.

Unbeaten Derry-born Duddy looks almost certain to challenge Jim Rock for the Dubliner's Irish middleweight title in Las Vegas on Thursday, 10 August - pulled back two days from its original date.

Meanwhile, Mexican puncher Campas, who boasts an incredible record of 87 wins (71 KOs) from 95 fights, is due to meet Miguel Hernandez on 15 August.

According to McLoughlin, the Rock/Duddy showdown will take place on the undercard to the Hasim Raham/Oleg Maskev WBC heavyweight duel in Nevada on 12 August.

Top US promoter Bob Arum is behind the Raham/Maskev contest and is also close to finalising terms for the Rock versus Duddy meeting.

McLoughlin said: 'We are 95% sure that John and Jim Rock will fight in Nevada in August and then we are lining up a fight with Campus for New York in late September. We are already in the process of booking the Theatre Club in Madison Square Gardens for 29 September and we will confirm everything in the coming weeks.'
