Promoter Brian Peters is lining up Jeff Thomas to meet Oisin Fagan at the National Stadium on 3 June.
Both men could go head to head to contest the vacant Irish welterweight title.
Fagan had been due to challenge Peter McDonagh for his Irish lightweight title but that fight has been shelved after McDonagh announced on Monday that he was pulling out because of a knee injury.
Peters said this morning that Thomas, who fights out of the St Anne's club in England, is being earmarked up to challenge Fagan for the title vacated by Robbie Murray.
The 3 June fight will be part of an exciting undercard which will be topped when IBC super bantamweight champion Bernard Dunne meets David Martinez.
Dublin born Fagan, nicknamed 'Gael Force' is currently based in Oklahoma, where he is the reigning state champion.
