Ricky Hatton edged through the sternest test of his career to date to retain his unbeaten record and earn the WBA welterweight title with victory over Luis Collazo in Boston.
Off-form Hatton was given an almighty scare by the slippery New York southpaw before claiming a unanimous 115-112 (twice), 114-113 verdict on the judges' scorecards.
Hatton had got off to a dream start by flooring Collazo with a sharp left hand in the opening seconds but was constantly caught out by his counter-punching opponent and was lucky to emerge with the belt.
