Irish middleweight Andy Lee was granted his Michigan State Licence to box at the weekend and is eagerly looking forward to his pro debut at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on March 2nd.

Lee, who signed a five year contract with famed American coach Emanuel Steward in December, is presently training at the Kronk Gym in Detroit.

"My training is going very well and I am feeling very sharp and I'm just waiting for my opponent to be named now", said Lee.

"I was granted my boxing licence this week and everything is in place for next month and I can't wait to get in the ring", he added.

Lee's last fight saw him beat former World and Cuban  champion Yordanis Despaigne on a night when an Irish-dominated Four Nations team hammered a star studded Cuban selection 6-2 in Dublin last summer.
