Derry man John Duddy maintained his unblemished professional record overnight in New York by easily stopping experienced Canadian middleweight Byron Mackie.

Duddy floored his opponent four times at the Hammerstein Ballroom to secure his 12th knockout of 13 straight wins.

The stoppage came at 1:32 in the fourth round as referee Wayne Kelly stepped in with Mackie, who went the distance with former world title challenger Ray Oliveira, struggling to recover from his fourth flooring.

The 26-year-old Duddy dropped Mackie twice in the first and third rounds.

On the under card, former World Amateur bronze medallist James Moore, 27, produced his third KO win in only his fourth pro bout as he stopped Florida-based Swede Manji Conteh in the third round.

Arklow light middleweight Moore lives just two doors away from Duddy in Queens, and has partaken in a punishing training schedule under Harry Keitt – which includes hitting large truck tyres with a sledgehammer – since moving Stateside in the summer.
