National welterweight champion Paul McCloskey lost his semi-final bout at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Warsaw this morning.
The Dungiven man lost 48 to 32 on a points decision to Sweden's Patrick Bogere. Had McCloskey qualified for the final, he would have earned himself a place at the Athens Olympic Games.
Instead, he will now have to wait a little longer for another chance, which will come at the end of the month, in the final round of qualifiers.
