Lennox Lewis was not giving anything away about his boxing future when he returned to England today after his heavyweight victory over Mike Tyson in Memphis last Friday. There seems to be little more for Lewis to prove, but his business manager Adrian Ogun revealed he would wait a few weeks, possibly until August, to outline his future plans.
Lewis told Sky Sports News: "You could say Lennox Lewis was on a mission. Mission complete. It's not been an easy road. There were a lot of disbelievers and a lot of doubters and now even to the very end you've got some people who held on and still throw it back that Tyson's going to win."
"Now I've proved it to them and I'm happy for the people who believed in me, the people who backed me from the very beginning said Lennox Lewis was going to be the best. I felt really relaxed before the fight. I felt ready to go any time, all they had to do was phone me and say 'you've got two hours to be ready' and I'd have been there."
Lewis claimed he could not see any realistic challengers to his title, but remained vague on whether that meant he would simply retire as the best or take the easy pickings of boxing against inferior fighters. "I don't see anybody out there that can beat me. There are just young guys out there, nobody out there that can really give me a challenge."
Asked outright if he would quit, Lewis added: "Depends on how you look at it. Depends, just throw a punch when you're ready."
