Doubt over Lewis/Tyson clash

Further details of Lennox Lewis' showdown with former world champion Mike Tyson will be revealed tomorrow despite the fact there is a major doubt over the American's future. Lewis, current holder of the WBC, IBF and IBO heavyweight title belts, is expected to meet Tyson on April 6 despite Las Vegas police yesterday completing their investigation into a woman's claim that she was raped by Tyson. If the police decide to prosecute the American boxer, then it could wreck the £70m fight.

A police spokesperson said yesterday that the results of the investigation will be handed to the District Attorney who will decide whether or not Tyson, who has already served a three-year sentence for rape, will be prosecuted. The woman, believed to be a lap dancer, contacted police last September claiming that the former undisputed heavyweight champion had raped her.

However, it remains to be seen if the proposed clash of Tyson and Lewis will be affected by the case. But if it goes ahead as planned, it is expected to be the biggest-grossing fight of all time. It was also confirmed yesterday that a re-match has already been scheduled for October.
