Lewis to accept King's offer of rematch

Former world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis looks set to accept a £9million offer from promoter Don King to take on Hasim Rahman in a rematch. Lewis surrendered his WBC and IBF heavyweight titles to the American in a fifth-round knock-out during their first meeting last April. However, Lewis had a clause included in the fight contract which gave him the opportunity of a rematch if he lost to Rahman, although he was forced to bring the issue to court to get King and Rahman to fulfill the condition.

"There has been no decision yet but the recommendation is for Lennox to accept the offer," confirmed Lewis' manager Frank Maloney. "We are making an offer of 12.5million US dollars to Lennox Lewis, which is more money than he got to go in as champion and get knocked out," revealed King.
