Ballincollig secured the Domino's Men’s Super League regular season top spot following a 112-103 double overtime win over Belfast Star, with Killester securing second spot thanks to their 100-79 win over EJ Sligo All-Stars.
In the battle against relegation, Energywise Ireland Neptune needed two overtime periods to defeat UCD Marian 117-112, while Flexachem KCYMS kept pace with Neptune with their own 91-85 road win over Limerick Celtics on Saturday night.
A win for Energywise Ireland Neptune over Griffith College Éanna on Monday would secure their safety. They resume that game trailing 22-4, which was the scoreline when play was stopped in the original fixture due to a serious injury.
If Neptune lose Monday's game the bottom two teams would end the season with matching win/loss records and it would lead to a one-off relegation playoff between Energywise Ireland Neptune and Flexachem KCYMS, which would take place next weekend at a neutral venue.
UCC Demons ensured they didn't get pulled into the relegation battle with a 100-73 win over St. Vincent's on Sunday, after which UCC Demons head coach Daniel O’Mahony announced he was stepping down after six years in the role.
O’Mahony steered the side back into the Super League and went on to win the MSL National Cup in 2023/24 – the club’s eighth Pat Duffy Cup - and followed it with the 2024/25 Domino’s Men’s Super League title.
Speaking after the St. Vincent’s game, O’Mahony said: "Really proud to go out on a high and win our final game and finish strong. This year will be a real learning curve for these guys and I can’t wait to support them. I felt it was right time for me to step away, reflect from my learnings and who knows how long I will stay away."
Fourth-placed Griffith College Éanna ended their regular season with a 92-66 triumph over Garvey’s Tralee Warriors, with the two sides to meet again next week in the quarter-final playoffs.
The playoffs will see top seeds Ballincollig host Limerick Celtics, second-placed Killester have home advantage against St. Vincent’s and Belfast Star take on UCD Marian.
