The Golden State Warriors held off the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 124-114 overtime win in the first game of the NBA finals.

The Cavs were left in disbelief after LeBron James scored 51 points - the sixth player in NBA history to hit 50 points in a finals game - but ultimately still lost to the reigning champions.

Golden State were able to take advantage after a JR Smith blunder in the dying seconds of regulation and carried that momentum into overtime, kicking off with a 7-0 run.

Stephen Curry finished with 29 points and Kevin Durant added 26 in game one of the fourth finals match-up in a row for the teams.
