Kieran Donaghy signed off his basketball season in style as he was named MVP following St Brendan’s Tralee’s Intermediate Cup win over BC Leixlip Nemunas.
The 2006 Footballer of the Year starred as the Kingdom side eased to a 78-60 win at the National Bastketball Arena.
He finished with 18 points, 24 rebounds and eleven assists on Saturday – the same day his Kerry team mates start their Allianz League Division 1 campaign against Dublin at Croke Park.
Donaghy, known to his friends and fans as Star, is due to return to Kerry training shortly.
He was part of manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice’s side that lost last year’s All-Ireland final to the Dubs.
Only recently he ended speculation about his inter-county future by committing to another season with the Kingdom.
Basketball used to be his primary sport, though football took over as he rose to prominence with his performances at the edge of the square.
