The Nivea For Men’s Superleague Player of the Month Awards for January have been revealed.

Belfast Star’s recent acquisition, Jermaine Washington, has made an instant impact, helping his side to a 100% record in January. It’s a superb turnaround for the Ulster side who started the season poorly but now look set to secure an all important play-off place.

Washington’s consistent displays included 29 points away to UCD/Marian, 19 points away to Abrakebabra Tigers, 31 points away to Neptune and 39 points at the expense of DCU Saints.

His points average of 21 points per game plus an average of 13 rebounds per game has helped land him the Northern Conference Player of the Month for January.

Meanwhile, Irish international Colin O’Reilly has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Month for the second time this season.

O’Reilly has maintained his form in the league after being awarded the Men’s Superleague National Cup ‘MVP’ this season.

Some of his highlights in the league in January included a 40-point scoring spree in the 108-81 win away to HOOPS in mid January.

His decision to return to Ireland from Iceland has proved to be a right one with UCC Demons enjoying a superb season in both cup and league competition.

Meanwhile, Rachel Vanderwal is Basketball Ireland’s Superleague Player of the Month for January.

Vanderwal is averaging 24 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in what is proving to be an excellent debut side for LeisureWorld Churchfield IONA.

During the month of January, the Guard secured 28 and 20 points against National Cup finalists Team Montenotte Hotel Cork and Bausch & Lomb Wildcats while 25 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals were secured in their win against DART Killester.
