Punosevac confirmed as new Irish women's coach

Basketball Ireland has announced the appointment of Sasa Punosevac as the coach of the Irish senior women's international team.

Punosevac, who hails from Serbia, rose to prominence in the game as coach of Partizan Blegrade.

Punosevac's international experience includes coaching the Yugoslavia Under-17 Boys to European Championship victory in 1997.

Coming into the Irish international fold, Punosevac will be working diligently over the coming months to prepare a squad for the forthcoming international season.

'I will spend February visiting every club and talking to players at these clubs who want to play for Ireland,' Punosevac said.
'I will have a picture after that and can begin planning for our games in August.'
