Ireland easily overcome Malta

Gerry Fitzpatrick's Ireland proved much too strong for Malta as they stormed to a 98-49 success in their men's European Championship clash.

Ireland - aiming for promotion to Division A - had the win in the bag by half-time when they led 54-22.

An early burst of scores from Pat Burke and Jim Moran sent Ireland into a lead they would never relinquish. Justen Naughten was Ireland's top scorer with fifteen points.

Fitzpatrick was delighted as the win will be a boost before their game against Switzerland on Wednesday.
