Good weekend for Waterford teams

The men and women of Waterford recorded victories in this weekend's round of ESB SuperLeague games. In the men's, Waterford Crystal hold on to a narrow lead at the top of the table thanks to Saturday night's win over Hibernian UCD Marian, to remain the only team with just two defeats after Neptune lost to St Vincent's. Elsewhere, Abbey Foods Sligo fell to a one point defeat to Tralee, which sees the Kerry side hold on to their place in the title race.

In the women's SuperLeague, Bausch & Lomb Wildcats of Waterford were easy winners away to SuperLeague rookies Glanmire. In Dublin, former Dutch international Elke Schneider scored on the buzzer in her last game for Tolka Rovers to force over-time, and to keep the drama alive Nicola Farrell was fouled on the buzzer of extra-time. With no time left on the clock, the former UL star scored 1 / 2 to give the 2000 champions a vital win which keeps them on the heels of reigning champions Wildcats.
