Mark English has lowered the Irish indoor 800m record for the second time in less than three weeks after a superb run at the Czech Indoor Gala in Ostrava.
The Donegal man clocked 1:44.23 to finish third in the event which was a World Indoor Tour Gold meeting, breaking his own record (1:44.65) that was onlyset last month in Luxembourg.
The Finn Valley AC runner now moves to tenth on the world all-time list for the event indoors and sixth on the European list.
It continues an excellent season for the 32-year-old who also set a national indoor record over 600m in January with a time of 1:15.80 in Dublin.
English will now continue his preparations for the upcoming World Indoor Championships which will be held in Torun, Poland in March.
English won bronze at last year's European Indoor Championships in the Netherlands, adding to his record of never failing to medal when making a European final.
