Ireland's Lana Sutton finished eighth in her first World Para Athletics Championships final, the T38 100m, on Monday.
Sutton qualified for the final in New Delhi by finishing fourth in her heat. It was a breakthrough moment for the sprinter who was born in Australia and grew up in London. Her father is Irish, while her great grandfather was former Taoiseach John Costello.
Sutton travelled to the Paris Games last year despite missing out on qualification. She was part of Paralympics Ireland's 'Futures Program', an initiative launched to unearth new talent.
Ireland claimed two golds in India on Sunday thanks to fine performances from Greta Streimikyte and Orla Comerford.
Streimikyte got Ireland off the mark in the women's 1500m T13 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium for a maiden world title. Comerford made it a double by winning the T13 100m.
Comerford is back in action on Tuesday when she appears in the T13 200m final, her second final of the championships.
