Greta Streimikyte has given Team Ireland an early gold at the World Para Athletics Championships in India as she claimed gold in the women's 1500m T13.
It's a first World Championship medal for the 30-year-old.
Leading from the off, the three-time Paralympian posted a time of 4:39.62, well clear of second-placed Izaskun Oses Ayucar who clocked a season’s best of 4:51.12. Indeed, the six-athlete race saw three SBs and a personal best for another Spaniard, Susana Guisado Rodriguez (4:58.57).
Meanwhile, Lana Sutton finished fourth in her T38 women’s 100m heat to qualify for the final in her first-ever World Championship race.
Orla Comerford competes in the T13 women’s 100m final on Sunday.
