Athletics Podcast: Mixed heats in humid Tokyo and nighttime habits of Corkonian pundits

Katie Kirk is joined by Derval O'Rourke in studio, with David Gillick dialling in from a sticky Tokyo, to look back on the first day of the World Athletics Championships.

Despite mixed results for the Irish there was plenty to discuss, as the people of Tokyo finally get a chance to enjoy some live athletics after the strange circumstances around the Covid Olympics back in 2021.

David and Derval give their takes on the latest bans that have overshadowed the start of the championships, while Derval analyses the women's 400m relay hopes in the absence of Rhasidat Adeleke.

We hear from Sharlene Mawdsley, while Derval previews the ridiculously stacked 100m hurdles event.

We also get some insight into the living arrangements of the pundits when taken out of their native Cork and learn who is the night owl out of the three.
