Andrew Coscoran was unable to make an impact at the Diamond League meeting in Brussels on Friday night as the Dublin athlete finished 13th in the 1500m.
Coscoran posted a time of 3:35.76, over five seconds slower than his personal best of 3:30.42 over the distance.
The race was won by Niels Laros from Netherlands, who crossed the line in a season's best time of 3:30.58.
Coscoran will represent Ireland at the upcoming World Championships in Tokyo where he has qualified for both the 1500m and the 5000m events.
