Sarah Healy produced a superb final lap to win the women's 1500m at the Rome Diamond League meeting to continue her fine form in 2025.
The Dublin athlete, who opened her outdoor season with a 3000m PB and a third-placed finish at the Rabat leg a fortnight ago, found herself well down the standings after a particuarly fast opening lap but managed to haul herself back onto the edge of the leading pack as the bell rang.
Kenya’s Susan Ejore was the first to kick for home, but she was reeled in and finished fifth with Healy and Australia’s Sarah Billings coming on strong as the line approached at Stadio Olimpico.

Billings managed to overtake Healy on the final bend with fellow Australian Abbey Caldwell also finding a great kick, but European indoor champion Healy dug incredibly deep in the final 50 metres to edge home in a season best time of 3:59.17 with Billings finishing in 3:59.24 and Caldwell 3:59.32, the latter two PBs.
