In winning at the New Balance Grand Prix in Boston, Mark English set a new Irish indoor 600m record.

The Finn Valley competitor clocked a time of 1:16.64 to lower the mark - 1:17.52 - set by Zak Curran in 2016. English's own personal best of 1:18.48 was set in 2020.

In a month's time English will head to the World Indoors in Glasgow, this after he defends his Irish 800m indoor title at Irish senior championships on the weekend of 17-18 February.

Brian Fay and Andrew Coscoran were also in action at the Boston meet, finishing in the 3000m top five, with third and fifth place finishes respectively.
