Ireland's Ciara Mageean finished fourth behind Britain's Laura Muir in the 1500m at the Birmingham Diamond League on Saturday, while compatriot Sarah Healy came home last of the 11 finishers at Alexander Stadium.

Mageean, contesting her first outdoor race of the season over the distance, recorded a time of four minutes 05.70 seconds, with Muir clocking 4:02.81 as she saw off Australia's Jessica Hull and Winny Chebet of Kenya.

Louise Shanahan, who broke Mageean's Irish 800m record at the Irish Milers Club meeting in Belfast a week ago, finished eighth over the same distance in Birmingham in 2:01.35 as Britain's Keely Hodgkinson made a winning return from a thigh tear.

Renelle Lamote of France finished second, with Jamaica's Natoya Goule back in third.
