Ryan Crouser has broken the shot put world record, a mark which had stood for more than three decades.
The American recorded a distance of 23.37 metres at the US Track and Field Olympic trials being held in Eugene, Oregon.
The 28-year-old will go into the Tokyo Olympics as the reigning champion, having taken gold in Rio with a 22.52m attempt.
Randy Barnes, also an American, had set the record at 23.12m in May 1990.
