European Athletics have confirmed that Sarah Healy is one of the three finalists for the Women's Rising Star Award.

Healy marked herself out as athlete of some potential when winning gold in both the 1,500m and 3,00om at the last summer's European U-18 championships in Hungary.

Prior to that she set a new Irish Youth and Under-20 record over 800m at the Belfast International meet.

The 17-year-old also smashed Ciara Mageean's Irish senior girls 1500m record with a 4:18.32 at the All-Ireland schools track and field championships at the start of June.

Also nominted alongside Healy are Elvira Herman from Belarus and Spain's Maria Vicente.

The winner will be announced and presented with their accolade at the Golden Tracks award ceremony in Lausanne on Friday 26 October.
