Justin Gatlin stormed to victory in the 100 metres at the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League meeting in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday.
The 34-year-old, who won silver behind Usain Bolt in last year's World Championships in the 100m and 200m, came home in 9.88 seconds, which would have been a world-leading time for this year had it not been for the wind assistance.
Asafa Powell was runner-up in 9.94secs while 2007 world champion Tyson Gay settled for third, 0.04 further back.
Femi Ogunode, who set the world leading time of 9.91 in Florida last month, finished fifth in 10.02.
