Ethiopian Lelisa Desisa claimed his second Boston Marathon success with a dominant victory on Monday.
The 25-year-old, who also triumphed in 2013 when the race was rocked by terrorist bombings hours after he crossed the line, came home in two hours nine minutes and 17 seconds to finished 31 seconds clear of compatriot Yemane Adhane Tsegay.
Desisa forced the pace over the closing miles and proved too strong for Tsegay, with Kenya's Wilson Chebet coming home in third place.
The women's race produced a far more dramatic ending as Kenya's Caroline Rotitch produced a sprint finish to beat Ethiopia's Mare Dibaba to the line by four seconds in 2:24:55.
Switzerland's Marcel Hug and American Tatyana McFadden secured convincing wins in the wheelchair races.
