Ten Irish athletes will be in action tomorrow on day one of the European Track and Field Championships in Zurich.
The championships will be streamed live on RTÉ.ie Sport and through the RTÉ Player, with highlights on RTÉ Two at 10.15pm.
Jason Harvey & Thomas Barr (400m hurdles), Amy Foster and Phil Healy (100m), Richard Morrissey and Brian Gregan (400m), Sarah Lavin (100m H) and Mark English and Declan Murray (800m) will all compete in their respective qualification rounds.
Fionnuala Britton will contest the final of the10,000m at 19.10 (Irish time) tomorrow evening in a week where she will also make her debut in the marathon.
Barbara Sanchez and Sarah Mulligan are the other members of the Irish Marathon Cup team with the results based on the national team’s three fastest finishers.
National Endurance Coach Chris Jones said “The marathon is a real team event in the Europeans and the course Fionnuala, Sarah and Barbara will face is extremely challenging so it’s about managing the race well.”
“From Fionnuala’s perspective, this race offers her the ideal opportunity to perform in a championship environment over a lapped course, which is completely different to the big city marathons and this event is a major stepping stone for her as she builds towards Rio.”
