Fionnuala Britton wins National Indoor Championships 1500m

Fionnuala Britton turned on the style at the National Indoor Atheltic Championships in Athlone, claiming a confident victory in the final of the women’s 1500m.

The participation of the double European Cross Country Champion was a major draw for spectators and she duly delivered, claiming victory in a time of 4:13.96.

Kerry Harty finished second to Britton, with Laura Crowe claiming third place.

In the final of the men’s 1500m John Coghlan, son of World Championship gold medallist Eamonn, took the gold in a time of 3:47.43.

Coghlan was pushed all the way by Eoin Everard who was a close second with Joe Warne taking the bronze medal spot.
