Martin Fagan has confirmed to the Irish Times that he is the athlete that has tested positive for EPO.

The Mullingar native will appear before an Athletics Ireland hearing tomorrow and says he is ready to accept whatever punishment comes his way.

The 28-year-old marathon runner admits that his battle against injury, financial pressure and an ongoing fight against depression led him take the performance enhancer in November.

Fagan is now set to be handed a two-year two ban from Athletics Ireland.

He says he can handle the blame, but hates what this is doing to his family and other Irish athletes.
