Gordon Kennedy has achieved the qualification time for the European Championships as he won the men’s 400m at today’s Woodie’s DIY AAI Senior Track and Field Championships in Morton Stadium, Santry.

Kennedy came home first in a time of 46.57 followed by Brian Gregan in 46.89 (Tallaght AC) and Brian Murphy (UCC) in 47.23.

Ailis McSweeney was in superb form as she retained the women's 100m final. The Leevale athlete came home first in a time of 11.60 followed by Amy Foster (University of Ulster) in 11.76 and Claire Brady (Celbridge AC) in 11.85

The men's 100m final was won by Jonathan Holmes (Kilkenny City Harriers AC). Second was Steven Colvert.

Elsehwere, Joanne Cuddihy regained the 400m title followed by Marian Andrews and Michelle Carey in second and third repectively.

Roseanne Galligan from Newbridge AC won the 800m title in a time of 2.03.35. Second was Ciara Mageean in a time of 2.05.50, while third place was taken by Fiona Kehoe in 2.08.47.

The men's 800m was won by Thomas Chamney from Crusaders AC in 1.48.84, with Darren McBrearty in second 1.49.37 and Anthony Lieghio home third in 1.49.65.
