Cork athlete Ailis McSweeney has failed in her bid to reach the 60-metre final at the World Indoor Championships in Valencia.

McSweeney finished a disappointing 7th place in her semi-final this afternoon in a time of 7.46sec which was slightly slower than she ran in the heat this morning and eight tenths of a second off her best time this year.

Meanwhile James Nolan finished sixth in heat one of the mens 1500 metres tonight at the world Indoor Athletics Championships in Valencia in a time of 3 minutes 42.12 secs and he failed to qualify for the final.
